American Cruise Lines launches 14-day Misissippi River cruise

What better way to see the fall foliage than on a river cruise down the Mississippi?

American Cruise Lines yesterday announced a new 14-night Grand Heartland Cruise from St. Paul, Minnesota, to Memphis, Tennessee, stopping in 13 cities along the way.

ACL offer six other Mississippi River cruise itineraries, though until now, all have been seven nights. But many passengers were doing back-to-back cruises, and the company wanted to “save them a bit of money and package in some extras, like a free hotel night,” says spokesperson Britt Rabinovici.

The Mississippi cruises have been growing in popularity, she notes. “There’s something about the Mississippi that’s romantic, that’s all-American. And the paddlewheeler adds to the old-fashioned appeal and makes it a very different experience.”

The cruise departs on October 26, 2013, aboard the Queen of the Mississippi, the first new paddle river boat built in the past 20 years.

ACL has 35 river-cruise itineraries across the country. It has another paddlewheeler under construction slated for 2014.

ACL partners with travel agents around the world, offering a tiered commission structure and fam trips.
